Mrs. Moore

Name: Alexsis Nicole Moore, formerly Alexsis Ramos, also known as Lex, Lexi and Lexibell

Age: 29… hanging on to my last year as a 20-something.

Occupation: Mom. In past lives I have been a camp counselor, waitress, chocolate factory worker, hotel associate, children’s museum attendant, deli girl, kindergarten teacher, temp, secretary, sales person, nanny, secretary again, executive assistant, and most notably, an English Language teacher to non-native speakers.

If you were an animal, what kind of animal would you be? I would be a kangaroo so I could carry Margot around in my pouch all day.

What’s your favorite color? Green. Or blue. Or blue-green.

If you were a superhero, what power would you like to have? I would have the ability to freeze time, and to rewind or slow down time.

Where would you go if you had a time machine? I would go meet my parents as teenagers, and then meet my Nana and talk to her and get to know her better. But, I wouldn’t mess anything up like Marty McFly.

What’s your favorite flavor ice cream? Pistachio. Hazelnut. Butter Pecan. Anything nutty.

What is your best childhood memory? My earliest memory is being in a crib at Bellow’s Beach (in Hawaii, where I was born) and hearing the ocean outside. There was a broken fan and my dad was trying to fix it, and I remember listening to him fixing the fan. I have a million more great childhood memories, but that one is a good one. And it’s the first one.

What three words would you use to describe Mr. Moore? Kindhearted, Passionate and Devoted. But, three words is hardly enough to convey what an incredible person he is. I am the luckiest gal I know.

What is the most surprising thing about motherhood so far? I was well-prepared for the day-to-day business of diapers and cuddling and all that, so none of that has surprised me. I was surprised at my own strength during Margot’s birth. And, every once in a while I look at her and I am just… in awe of the fact that she is real. That I am really a mom. That I really did it. That Todd and I created this perfect little creature with breath that smells like cake batter.

What do you hope people learn about you by reading this blog? I hope that people can see how much we love each other, and can just get a glimpse into our everyday lives. I hope that people are inspired by some of the things we do which are a little… left of normal… and maybe take a chance being a little left of normal in their own lives.
